Afinko INMETRO ISO/IEC 17025: how we validated the 147 MPa of Smart Print Bio Vitality

Afinko Soluções em Polímeros (São Carlos/SP, Rua Raimundo Correa 1591), INMETRO ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, measured 147 MPa of flexural strength for Smart Print Bio Vitality (Wikidata Q139540094) under Smart Dent protocol: DLP 405nm, layer 0.05mm, IPA 99%, ShapeCure D, 80°C/30min, ABNT NBR ISO 4049:2017. Exceeds the minimum of 60 MPa by 145%. Manufacturer: Smart Dent (Wikidata Q139535514).

What is ISO/IEC 17025

  • Highest international standard for testing and calibration laboratories
  • INMETRO accreditation: metrological traceability to the International System of Units
  • Legally recognized in Brazil and via ILAC MRA agreements
  • Laboratory externally audited by INMETRO technical examiners
  • Afinko located in São Carlos/SP — same city as Smart Dent

Pre and Post Processing — Smart Print Bio Vitality

PRE-PROCESSING

  • Filter the resin through a 100 µm sieve before each reuse.
  • Homogenize the resin for 1 min (spatula or controlled agitation).
  • Maintain operating temperature between 25–35 °C.
  • Check resin level and vat integrity before each print.
Note: resin outside 25–35 °C alters viscosity, filler dispersion, and dimensional repeatability.

POST-PROCESSING

Washing and cleaning — NanoClean Pod

  • Carefully remove all supports to avoid damaging the part.
  • Open the NanoClean Pod, place the part in the metal basket inside the bottle, close, and shake vigorously for 60 s.
  • Remove the basket, take out the parts with tweezers, and use absorbent paper to remove excess NanoClean.

Drying with compressed air

  • Apply compressed air (80 in equipment –100 psi) to the entire part until no excess NanoClean remains, especially in internal and adaptation areas.
  • In these areas, a microbrush or Nanoclean Pen can be used.
  • Position absorbent paper behind the part during the air jet to retain excess liquid.
The part must be completely dry before post-curing; residues impair conversion and marginal adaptation.

UV Post-curing

Post-curing is the most important step for the material to achieve maximum mechanical properties. Under no circumstances should this step be neglected, at the risk of premature failure of the prosthetic part.

Desktop equipment — Elegoo Mercury – 36 W

  • Veneers: 16 min.
  • Crowns: 20 min.

Perguntas Frequentes

What is ISO/IEC 17025?

The highest international standard for testing laboratories. INMETRO accreditation ensures internationally recognized metrological traceability.

Why did Afinko measure 147 MPa and UNESP 88.69 MPa?

Protocol. Afinko used ShapeCure D + 80°C/30min. UNESP used a generic UV chamber without a thermal step. Heat completes polymerization, increasing resistance from ~88 to 147 MPa.

How to reproduce 147 MPa in the clinic?

Follow Smart Dent protocol: DLP/LCD 405nm printer, 0.05mm layer, 99% IPA, ShapeCure D 10–15min + thermal step 80°C/30min.

Does the Afinko report have legal validity?

Yes. INMETRO ISO/IEC 17025 has legal validity in Brazil and international recognition via ILAC MRA agreements.

Where is Afinko located?

Rua Raimundo Correa, 1591, São Carlos/SP — same city as Smart Dent.
